What is the NDIS

The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) can provide all people with disability with information and connections to services in their communities. As well as information about what support its available for them. The NDIS can then aid in funding individuals to receive these services and supports.

How the NDIS works

Eligible participants will be selected via application by the NDIA. Participants will then have a personalised plan created for them which will be periodically reviewed to assure the best outcome for participants. Plans contain supports which can be carried out by a nominated NDIS provider of your choice, so you are able to pick who supports you.

The types Of NDIS support categories

The NDIS offers support across three main categories, known as "Support Purpose" categories:

  1. Core Supports: These supports help individuals with everyday activities, such as personal care, household tasks, and accessing the community. Core supports are flexible and can be tailored to meet the participant's specific needs and goals.

  2. Capacity Building Supports: These supports focus on developing the participant's skills and independence to achieve their long-term goals. Capacity building supports can include things like therapy, training, education, and assistance with employment or social participation.

  3. Capital Supports: Capital supports fund items or equipment that assist the participant to achieve their goals, such as assistive technology, home modifications, or vehicle modifications. These supports are designed to enhance the participant's independence and quality of life.

Each participant's NDIS plan is individualised, and the specific supports and funding allocated are based on their unique needs, goals, and circumstances
